INEC registered 261,300 eligible Voters at CVR registration in Adamawa,Outgoing REC, Gaidam says

The Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC has registered a total of 261,300 prospective voters in the just concluded Contineous Voter registration(CVR) in Adamawa state.

Outgoing Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state Barrister Kassim Gaidam disclosed the development in an interactive session with journalists in Yola yesterday in Yola stressing that the voters were registered as from June 2021 to July 2022.

Gaidam who has done his maximum 10 years as the REC in the state said he is leaving with pride noting that the concluded registration exercise recorded high turnout of eligible voters especially women and youth in the state.

Gaidam stated that the exercise recorded minimal invalid figure out the voters attributing the success story to the serious commitment exhibited by INEC staff and the digital downloading of election results.

He said he expects that the same efficiency will be shown by INEC in the general election due next year.

“I am the longest serving REC in one state, ever in the history of the Commission. It’s been over 10 years, because I was in Gombe State briefly and then back to Adamawa. I was also in Edo State,” he said during the interview.

He added that the fresh figures, barring radical changes when the final figures are arrived at, would bring up the total voter strength in Adamawa State to a little over two million.

“We already had 1,973,088 used for the 2019 elections. This will be subjected to scrutiny and a cleanup, after which the final updated figure will be released,” he said.
