The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated its official records for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), removing the names of Ahmed Yayari and Daniel Woyengikuro as National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary, respectively.

The electoral body replaced the duo with Odeyemi Mackson Oladiran and Eyim Donatus Henry, reflecting a significant shift in the party’s leadership records on INEC’s portal.

Ahmed Yayari and Daniel Woyengikuro are associated with the faction of the PDP reportedly backed by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, while the newly listed officials are members of the camp aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The latest update is seen as further recognition of the Wike-backed leadership structure within the opposition party.

Prior to the change, INEC had already listed Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary—both regarded as members of the Wike-aligned faction. However, the retention of Yayari and Woyengikuro in key financial positions had created uncertainty over which faction was officially recognised by the commission.

The removal of the two officials and their replacement with Odeyemi and Eyim appears to have resolved that ambiguity, as all national officers currently displayed on INEC’s portal are now aligned with the faction backed by the FCT minister.

The development is expected to further intensify discussions over the leadership crisis within the PDP, which has witnessed prolonged internal divisions and competing claims to key party positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Makinde-backed faction nor the PDP national leadership had issued an official reaction to the latest update on INEC’s portal.
