Following the closing of his evidence in a case involving Comrade Philip Shaibu, the immediate past deputy governor of Edo State and Dr. Asue Ighodalo over the alleged forgery of Independent National Electoral Commission’s voter’s cards, Justice Kalowola James Omotosho of the Federal High Court 8, Abuja has asked the defence counsel to Ighodalo to appear for his defence on Wednesday 3rd of July, 2024.
Shaibu, through the former chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State and a governorship aspirant in Edo State People’s Democratic party primary in February, 2024, Hon. Anselm Ojezua, Friday tendered evidence obtained from INEC before the court, alleging forgery of the said documents by the PDP governorship candidate in Edo State.
On Wednesday 3rd of July, 2024, Ighodalo may be docked in the witness box to deny or debunk the alleged forgery of the INEC voter’s cards by comrade Philip Shaibu.
At the beginning of hearing in the case on Friday, Justice James Omotosho warned counsels in the case that he will not entertain any unnecessary delay in the case , as it is a pre- election matter.
He subsequently asked Ighodalo and INEC to appear on Wednesday 3rd and Friday 5th of July, 2024 for their defence.
