Former Minister of Defence, retired General Theophilus Y. Danjuma, has again urged Nigerians to take responsibility for their own safety, warning that the escalating insecurity across the country cannot be addressed by government alone.

Danjuma, who spoke during an Easter appreciation event in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, stressed the need for citizens to adopt self-defence measures in response to increasing attacks by bandits and terrorists.

“If our people do not stand up and defend themselves, bandits and terrorists will take over our society,” Danjuma said.

He stressed that communities should remain vigilant and proactive in securing their environments.

The elder statesman underscored the importance of community readiness, noting that without preparedness and unity, the country risks descending into further chaos.

Danjuma also expressed deep appreciation to his staff, partners and affiliated companies.

He specially praised the team at the TY Danjuma Medical Centre, commending their dedication and resilience in delivering essential healthcare services despite challenging circumstances.
