Knowing the bedeviling state of security nature of the country and the economic meltdown that is fast devaluating the Naira value with excruciating high cost of living, the presiding Bishop of upper room churches worldwide in Yola, Dr. Peter Makanto while delivering his Sunday sermon said Nigeria needs to be more serious with God.
According to him if Nigerians are serious by coming to Him in prayers, giving Him what he deserves, giving Him their lives,giving Him all their best in life, and love one another that God has a way of bringing solutions to the country.
The International preacher worried about how the country is falling and tearing apart with spades of killing, banditry, and all sorts of agitations with many sections of the country clamoring for separation.
“I just believe that if all of us will turn to God, God has a way of bringing solutions to our lives, to our country, and also to the church. When we begin to be more serious with God that’s where our attitudinal precepts will change toward Him and toward one another.” Peter said
Makanto who granted an interview to this medium in his Yola office immediately after the Church’s first Sunday service where he preached extensively on “giving” and said; God is not hungry, he doesn’t run short of anything that he wants to do for a particular person at any given time. He is not a politician, He is a true God and cannot lie.
Taken his root Bible text from the book of Malachi 3:9-10 and emphasized the giving of Tithes, First fruits, alms, and seed giving as Bible precepts that soil well relationship between humans to God and Humans to humans.
He said no relationship seems to exist if there is no giving which is the cementer of a sustainable cordial relationship.
He revealed that giving is part of showing love to God and people, stated that If we don’t love people and we say we love God, we are deceiving ourselves and the love of God is not in us.
“If we begin to be serious with God by loving ourselves there won’t be much trouble in the country. What we are seeing today is a result of a lack of giving true love to God and our fellow humans.
” I believe that God will wipe away our perils in this country if we are more serious with Him.
“God is very particular how we relate with one another that is how it will show that we truly love Him.” He added
