The Senator Representing Adamawa Northern Senatorial zone,Mr Ishaku Abbo called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Service Chiefs over insecurity bedeviling the nation, especially the people of North East Nigeria who are facing ceaseless attacks by Boko Haram insurgents.
Abbo said this during the Wednesday plenary at the Senate Chambers where he blamed the service chiefs of running out of ideas.
“The service chiefs have done their best and I think they are running out of ideas,when they came, they came with all vigor, power and strength and we are seeing the results today,we should bring in new ideas to come and head the security of this country.” Ishaku Said
According to him From 2012 to 2019 the Nigeria Military alone received over 4.5 trillion naira as documented by the Budget office, saying that is not all about funding it’s about how the Military men utilise the money for maximum service to the nation.
He worried that the recent attacks by Boko Haram meted on the communities of Michika and Madagali areas he reprents were carried out unchallenged by the Nigeria Military.
Senator Ishaku Said that from 5th November,2019 to 11th January,2020 insurgents visited the areas nine times, turning the place into Boko Haram barn whenever they run shortage of food,Cartered away drugs and break up people’s shops and the lots they take it to the forest.
Abbo while contributing to the menace of insecurity at floor of the Senate,he said in recent years they have never had it this bad security wise,he called on the Senate President to meditate by sacking of the Service Chiefs as a possible solution to the high level of insecurity in the country.
Ishaku while having the floor during the Tuesday sitting,he narrated his ugly experience with the Nigerian Military when Boko Haram overran a community on the 3rd of January,2020 the Soldiers could not repel them but gave “unacceptable excuse” of not having a vehicle.
“I call on the president and commander-in chief of the arms forces to look inward, he need to rejick the security apparatus and we should not be ashame of foreign help.Silence is no longer golden here, yesterday we are survivors, today we are victims, today’s survivors are tomorrow’s victims.” Ishaku added
