The International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMIN) recently concluded a highly successful five-day workshop, bringing together professionals in the maritime sector to share knowledge and expertise on various topics related to the blue economy.
The event, held from December 2-6, 2024, at the IMION Auditorium, NNS Quorra Harbour Road, Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria, was a significant step towards advancing the blue economy in Nigeria.

In his opening remarks, Rear Admiral Thaddeus Udofia (Retired), Director General of IMIN, emphasized the program’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for sustainable development and the recently created Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy. Udofia highlighted the training’s focus on knowledge exchange, collaboration, and actionable solutions to drive the blue economy forward.
The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of the blue economy, covering topics such as policy and governance, economic and environmental sustainability, technological innovations, and stakeholder engagement.
Participants engaged with experts in the maritime sector, gaining valuable insights into the latest developments and best practices in the industry.
The workshop was attended by a diverse group of professionals, including representatives from government agencies, private sector organizations, and academic institutions. The event provided a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and networking among professionals in the field.

Certificates of participation were presented to participants by Rear Admiral TC Udofia (Retired), Director General of IMIN. The workshop was concluded with a vote of thanks by Captain ZI AGBAJE.
