Amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, the Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that it is finalizing emergency evacuation plans for Nigerian citizens currently stranded in both countries.

The move comes as part of Nigeria’s broader response to the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the government confirmed that arrangements are underway to safely airlift affected citizens.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that following the escalation of the crisis between the State of Israel and Islamic Republic of Iran, the Federal Government is finalizing arrangements for the emergency evacuation of stranded Nigerians in both countries,” the statement read.
All affected Nigerian citizens are therefore strongly advised to abide by necessary security protocols and contact the nearest Nigerian Embassy or Mission for registration and further instructions
Nigerian citizens currently in Israel or Iran have been strongly advised to remain vigilant, follow security protocols, and immediately reach out to the nearest Nigerian Embassy or Mission.
“All affected Nigerian citizens are therefore strongly advised to abide by necessary security protocols and contact the nearest Nigerian Embassy or Mission for registration and further instructions,” the Ministry added.
The Federal Government also lauded the swift response and continued efforts of its diplomatic Missions in both Tel Aviv and Tehran.
“The Ministry commends the efforts put in place by our Missions in Tel Aviv, Israel and Tehran, Iran for their dedication and commitment to reaching out to the Nigerian Community in these difficult times,” the spokesperson stated.

Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of Nigerians abroad, the Ministry assured the public of ongoing collaboration with international and local authorities.
“We wish to assure the general public that the Federal Government of Nigeria remains committed to the safety and welfare of all its citizens, both at home and abroad,” the Ministry said, adding that efforts are being made “to ensure the timely and secure evacuation of Nigerians in affected areas.”
In a diplomatic appeal for peace, the Nigerian government called for an immediate end to hostilities between Israel and Iran.

“In the same vein, the Government of Nigeria reiterates its call for the immediate cessation of hostilities and urges all parties involved to embrace dialogue, respect international humanitarian law and prioritize the protection of civilians,” the statement read.
The Ministry further emphasized Nigeria’s enduring stance on global peace and conflict resolution.

The Ministry assured that further updates regarding evacuation efforts and diplomatic interventions will be provided through official channels as the situation unfolds.
