Hon Desmond Minakaro, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Peace and Security, has strongly condemned the recent brutal incident in Gyakan, Lamurde LGA, labeling it as “very barbaric.” He expressed dismay that a fellow human being could commit such a heinous crime through jungle justice, fueled by unverified pronouncements from a spiritualist or prophetess.
Minakaro emphasized that these acts of lawlessness must cease, as they can spark severe conflict among the people. He commended Governor Fintiri’s swift response, directing security agencies to curb escalation and bring perpetrators to justice.

To address this issue, Minakaro urged collaborative efforts between security agencies, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and Traditional Councils. He appealed to the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing the importance of being “brother’s keepers” and considering the wisdom of Matthew 7:21. Minakaro cautioned that impulsive actions driven by anger can lead to lifelong regret.
Condemning the violence, Minakaro stated that the reoccurrence of such barbaric acts must stop, as it is capable of igniting serious crisis among the people. He appreciated the quick response of His Excellency, Governor Fintiri, through his directives to Security Agencies to curtail escalation and bring perpetrators to face the full wrath of the law.
Minakaro’s call to action seeks to promote peace and security in the region, encouraging citizens to work together towards a harmonious and law-abiding community.
