JAMB Releases First Batch of 632,788 UTME Results from Day One of 2026 Examination

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of 632,788 candidates who sat for the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

The results are now available for viewing, marking one of the fastest turnarounds in recent JAMB history for processing large volumes of computer-based test outcomes.

In an official statement signed by the Board’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, Ph.D., candidates are advised to check their scores by sending UTMERESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the exact phone number (SIM) registered during the UTME application process.

“At this stage, candidates may view their results only; printing is not yet available,” the statement noted.

JAMB issued a strong warning against any form of result manipulation. Candidates and their parents or guardians were cautioned not to alter or fabricate scores from the official SMS received from 55019 or 66019 with the intent to mislead others.

“Such actions constitute a serious criminal offence. The Board treats such misconduct with the utmost gravity,” Benjamin emphasised.

The statement revealed that two candidates and one parent are currently in custody for engaging in result falsification using artificial intelligence and other electronic means. Any individual found culpable will face the full weight of the law.

The 2026 UTME is still ongoing, with results for subsequent days expected to be released progressively as processing is completed.

Candidates and stakeholders are encouraged to rely solely on official channels for result verification to avoid falling victim to scams or engaging in unlawful practices.

This early release of results for the opening day of the examination is expected to ease anxiety among the hundreds of thousands of candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
