Jigawa Governor Hands Over Wetland Game Reserve as National Park to Environment Minister

Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has officially handed over the Hadejia Wetland Game Reserve as a National Park to the Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal. The ceremony took place at the State Government House in Dutse, with the Conservator-General of the National Park Service, Dr. Ibrahim Musa Goni, representing the Minister.

The handover marks a significant step forward in protecting and preserving one of Nigeria’s most vital ecosystems. The Hadejia Wetlands, known for its rich biodiversity and environmental importance, will now enjoy greater conservation efforts and resources as it joins the National Park network.

The Minister also highlighted the potential for job creation, increased revenue, and community development, stating that the park will become an eco-tourism hotspot, attracting visitors from far and wide.
