Mourners in Jimeta metropolis under Yola North Local Government Area have thronged the family house of former Inspector General of Police, Late Gambo Jimeta to pay condolence visit at his Yola residence in Dougeri, adjacent Adamawa state Government House, Yola.
Hundreds of people weep openly over his demise which they described as a big loss to the Jimeta community. Many have described him as a pillar of modern Jimeta who stood his ground for the creation of Yola North Local Government during the Abacha era.
The District Head of Jimeta and Dan Isa Adamawa, Alhaji Mohammadu Inuwa Baba Paris said late Gambo Jimeta was Dan Lawan Adamawa who brought about meaningful development to Adamawa and Nigeria as a whole during his service period.
Baba Paris who is the District Head of Jimeta mourned Gambo as a great man who contributed a lot to the development of Nigeria and Nigerians.
“His dead is a huge lost, Gambo was a great leader who contributed a lot to the overall development of Jimeta, Yola North and the entire country.
” He created Yola North during the Abacha regime, he was the IGP he assisted the sons and Daughters of Jimeta which today they are very senior officers. We have about Four AIG’s, seven Commissioners of the Nigerian police, senior police officers all trained by late Gambo Jimeta and we are very proud of him.” Inuwa said.
Our correspondent observed that hundreds of mourners were still thronging the family compound as at the time of leaving the Gambo home in Yola North.
Politicians, Business tycoons and government officials all converged to the house of late Gambo to pay condolences.
