Yesterday representatives of 36 communities living at the southern part of the Gombe metropolis which includes Riyadh, Hammadu Kafi, Bagadaza, Abacha Qtrs, Dubai, Wuro Shi’e, Wuro Biriji, Bomala, Tabra, Yarima Qtrs, Tunfure Bashar etc have met and discussed the issue of continous black out being faced in the area despite the improvement of the supply of electricity in the state and the country in general.
They noted with dismay that now Nigeria is generating above 6,000MW but instead of the supply to improve it is now worse courtesy of JEDC Gombe Business office act of omission or commission which include poor maintenance, extortion and estimated billing among others.
Therefore, the communities unanimously resolved that;
1. Henceforth nobody in the area would pay his elecricity bill until the supply is improved. Therefore ” No light no pay”
2. All bills would be collected through Masjids and churches in the area and be returned to JEDC headquaters Jos.
3. Nobody should abuse, molest or fight with JEDC staff if they decide to disconnect their supply. However, they should not be allowed to take the elctric cable away.
4. A petition would be sent to the Honourable Minister and copied to the Managing Director of JEDC at their headquaters in Jos and all other relevant agencies including security formations
The above resolutions are taken in good faith and we enjoin all those who are facing the same problem to join us in this struggle for justice.
