Kaduna Reps Member Empowers 1,000 Women, Youth with N100m Business Grants

In a bid to alleviate poverty and promote financial independence, Hon. Gabriel Saleh Zock, representing Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, has disbursed N100 million in business grants to 1,000 women and youth constituents.

The empowerment program, carried out in collaboration with the National Productivity Centre, saw 900 beneficiaries receive N50,000 each, while 100 others with outstanding business proposals received between N300,000 to N7 million.

He highlighted the program’s aim to empower constituents to start or uplift their businesses, thereby contributing to the local economy.

Addressing the beneficiaries in Kachia, Hon. Zock urged them to utilize the funds judiciously, emphasizing the importance of financial independence and assisting others. To ensure the funds’ judicious use, a microfinance bank will disburse and monitor the grants. Beneficiaries have undergone training on business management, and their performance will be monitored through the bank.

Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Henry Danjuma, commended Hon. Zock for the initiative, stating it would significantly alleviate poverty in the constituency. He advised beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity.

Samuel Umar, a beneficiary, expressed gratitude to Hon. Zock, promising to utilize the funds to boost his ginger and maize farm yields by purchasing essential farm inputs.
