I am worried as an APC member from Kano state. What is coming out from the two kwankwasiyya factions is not at all healthy for our politics. A single State by-election to have raised this so much tension and more unfortunate within the same party, is indeed what we are not expecting when we voted for our party in my state. Remember Kano is the stronghold of the APC, it is where we produced the highest votes in almost every election of the 2015. It is also where from councilor to the Governor are all APC members, despite the presence of the like of Shekarau, Aminu wali and co. I mean all the elective positions are 100% APC, then why this hues?
This coming Saturday, there is going to be the state assembly by-election of Minjibir LGA as a result of the death of the member representing that LGA. The election was postponed to this Saturday due to security issues when it was earlier slated. You see to me ORDINARILY THIS BY-ELECTION IS SUPPOSED TO BE A WALKOVER FOR APC, BUT IT SEEMS WE ARE NOT IN ORDINARY TIMES. TOO BAD! What started like a drama is now fully blown crisis that has a life of its own. May God help.
To be honest there would have been no need for all these noises, attacks and counter attacks on media houses, print and social media as well, had it been this crisis was managed right from the onset. What is happening in my state, to me and many of our kind, is just ego fighting of two cousin-fathers that used to share the same compound together for more than 16 years, but they now want to live separately, so the children are trying by all means to get what they can extract from the fathers. To us Kwankwasiyya started with Kwankwaso and Ganduje, for anyone to now come and say otherwise, we will have our doubt but only time will tell.
My worries and concern is if a single by-election of state assembly can raise this tension, then what will happen when it comes to the general election? I think the two actors must look beyond this unnecessary fight of supremecy and put head together for their own sake. It is in their own interest because all the gains finally goes to them. This is what we wanted to be avoided when we have been shouting that WE REALLY DON’T NEED THIS FIGHT – I could remember I wrote 3 articles to this effect, but our cries fell into deaf ears. Now we are here jammed in a crises that will not do us any good. Whether we say it or not we know have a situation that was very avoidable in the first place.
The leaders of the two kwankwasiyya factions must understand that there is no gain to any of them in the long run if this election is lost. We must look beyond now in order to really understand what the Winning or Losing of this by-election will be to us, both individually and collectively.
When two cousin-fathers are fighting, I think their sons and daughters need to seriously pray so that the fight will stop for the benefit of all of the children plus even their friends and associates.
APC needs to win this election no matter what and that is my stand.
May almighty God always help us see the reasons to think and act positively all the times.
