But details of their discussion were not made public.

Commenting on his mission to Ribadu’s office, the Kano Governor said he had “fruitful engagement” with the NSA.

The meeting comes amid the battle for the revered Kano throne between the reinstated Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and dethroned Emir Aminu Ado Bayero.

Governor Yusuf had sacked Bayero as Emir and reinstated Sanusi as Emir of Kano.

Peeved by the deposed emir’s action, Governor Yusuf ordered the police to arrest Ado Bayero for “creating tension” in the state.

But Ado Bayero who set up his own court at the mini Palace in Nassarawa, secured military protection, giving the impression that the Federal Government was behind him.

Kano Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, had accused Ribadu of giving Ado Bayero the backing to return to Kano after he had been deposed.

Ribadu denied the allegation, threatening to sue Gwarzo whom he gave ultimatum to apologise.

The Kano deputy governor has since apologised to Ribadu, claiming to have been misled.
