Kennedy Peretei Resigns as PDP Spokesman, Calls Party ‘Dead’

In a startling turn of events, Kennedy Peretei has officially resigned from his position as Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, delivering a scathing critique of the party’s current leadership.

His resignation, announced in a press statement titled “I Quit As The PDP In Ondo State Leaves The Intensive-Care Unit For The Morgue,” has sent shockwaves through the political landscape of the region.

Peretei did not hold back in his condemnation of the party, accusing its leaders of lacking any genuine intention to win future elections. “It is difficult to work with people whose interests are only themselves and how they can use the party to trade every election year,” he lamented, highlighting a rift that appears to be deepening within the party ranks.

The former spokesman, who has been with the PDP for over two decades, recounted his contributions to the party since its inception in 1999, expressing disappointment at how the leadership has allegedly led the party to a state of decline. “The same people who have held the party hostage, making it impossible to win elections in the last three election cycles, have tightened their grip on a party that laid prostrate at the Intensive Care Unit,” he stated, suggesting the party is on a fast track to irrelevance.

In response to Peretei’s resignation and comments, the PDP’s leadership dismissed his allegations as “vulgar” and a “desecration of PDP.” Leye Igbabo, the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, questioned how an individual’s unfulfilled ambitions could lead to such dire claims about the party’s health.

“We find it extremely amusing that Mr. Kennedy Peretei, who knew that an organisation was on its way to the morgue, could mindlessly seek and recklessly scheme to take the chairmanship position of such a ‘dead’ party!” Igbabo remarked, asserting that the PDP is “alive and bouncing very well in Ondo State.”
