Taraba House of Assembly and leaders of security agents in the state on Wednesday urged Gov Darius Ishaku to consider procuring trackers and other necessary gadgets needed to enable security agencies in the state effectively combat kidnappings and other security challenges in the state.
This is contained in a communique at the end of a closed door interactive session with heads of Security agencies in the state signed by the speaker, Mr Abel Diah.
The House Committee Chairman on Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir read a communique issued at the end of the meeting.
“The meeting lamented the inadequacy of security personnel in the state who will more effectively tackle security challenges generally.
“The meeting particularly emphasized the need for the state to procure a tracker and other necessary machineries and equipment needed to combat criminality in the state.
“The meeting called upon the state government to install street lights within Jalingo and other major urban areas in the state so as to prevent criminals from hiding in the dark to perpetrate their heinous crimes.” It reads.
The Nigerians Tribune reports that kidnapping has become a daily occurrence in Jalingo and other communities of Taraba.
