Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Saturday lamented that killers have joined the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The former Osun State governor did not reveal the identity of the killers but said people know them.
Aregbesola was said to have made the claim after revalidating his APC membership at Ifofin, Ward 8, Ilesa East Local Government Area of Osun State on Friday.
A video showing him speaking and making the claim in Yoruba language is currently circulating on social media.
Aregbesola, who was seen in the video with some of his party chieftains and some persons who served under his administration, also joined his supporters to sing some proverbial songs which, when interpreted, suggested that some politicians who benefited while he was governor had become ingrates.
Part of what he told his supporters read, ““Killers have joined our party and the law guiding our party doesn’t say we can’t admit them when a law court has not convicted them. You know the killers or you don’t know them?
“You know miscreants or you don’t know miscreants? If we will be in the same party, we will not accept anything that will denigrate Bola Ige. He was our father. In this area, Bola Ige was our father.
“Are you happy that Bola Ige was killed? I am a son to the late Bola Ige. Whoever denigrates Bola Ige is our enemy. Whoever wants to use Bola Ige’s tomb to climb to a higher height would not achieve his aim. When we want to aspire for a position here, your name and antecedent will determine how you will be treated.”
Aregbesola’s statement came at a time there have been claims that his relationship with his successor, Adegboyega Oyetola had soured due to the governor allegedly allowing some people with questionable characters in the state to defect to the APC.
