A wave of grief and fury has engulfed Adamawa State following the savage murder of Hon. Thomas Godwin, popularly known as Zamfara, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Organising Secretary in Hong Local Government Area and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The 49-year-old businessman was ambushed and bludgeoned to death with sticks and clubs by unknown assailants on the night of Tuesday, April 15, while riding his motorcycle home in Kala’a.
The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Bathiya Wesley, a close ally and political godfather to the late Zamfara, stormed the deceased’s family home in a torrent of tears, vowing to ensure justice for his “faithful, loyal, honest, and diligent” friend.

Speaking at the Funeral service, Bathjya’s voice trembled with resolve as he declared, “I’ll go to extra lengths to ensure Godwin Thomas Zamfara gets justice.
A good-hearted, promising young man can’t just go like that. No! The perpetrators of this heinous act must be brought to book!” His tear-filled eyes and clenched fists underscored the depth of his anguish and determination.
Echoing the Speaker’s fierce resolve, Tol Hoba, Barr. Alheri Bulus Nyako, joined by prominent Hoba figures, including General Haldu Hananiya, the Senator representing Adamawa Central, Mallam Aminu Iya Abbas a former minister, Dr Aliyu Idi Hong condemned the killing in the strongest terms. “There is no place for such an act in the Hoba kingdom,” Nyako roared, his voice resonating with authority.

“Not under my watch! The perpetrators must be made an example to deter anyone thinking of bringing this dangerous, dishonourable trend—political or otherwise—to our land!” His words were met with resounding claps and nods from the gathered crowd, signaling unified outrage.
The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the murder, which has shattered the state’s reputation for tranquility.
Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Investigation to leave no stone unturned. “A team of detectives has been deployed to ensure the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice,” stated Police Public Relations Officer Suleiman Nguroje in a press release.
The brutal killing has ignited fears of escalating insecurity in the region, with many residents decrying the rising tide of violence.
As the investigation unfolds, the people of Adamawa, led by their resolute leaders, stand united in their demand for swift justice for Zamfara—a man whose life was cut short in a vicious act that has left a community in mourning and a state on edge.
