……as warring Atyap, Fulani and Hausa communities agree to end hostilities
Warring communities in Zangon-Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Saturday agreed to live in peace.
The Atyap, Fulani and Hausa communities in the area on Saturday signed a peace pact to end all hostilities and violence in Zangon-Kataf where a 24-hour curfew, which lasted three months, was relaxed on Saturday.
This is coming after the recurring violence that has led to the loss of lives and properties in the local government area located in Southern Kaduna
Saturday’s peace agreement comes after many efforts to reconcile the ethnic groups failed.
Representatives of the ethnic groups, who attended a reconciliation summit on Saturday, agreed to forgive one another and assist security agencies with information that could lead to the arrest of trouble makers.
The meeting summoned by the Agwatyap of Atyap, Dominic Yahaya, held at Yakubu Event Centre in Ungwan Wakil.

All the parties were enjoined to avoid taking laws into their hands, but submit to the lawful authorities.
They also highlighted the importance of working out the modalities for the return of displaced persons and recommended the establishment of a standing peace committee with representatives from Hausa, Fulani and Atyap communities.
