Following Tuesday night’s attack on Kuje prison in the Federal Capital Territory, President Muhammadu Buhari has visited the facility to assess the extent of damage.
Gunmen had attacked the prison with explosives on Tuesday night.
Residents had told newsmen that gunshots were heard for over 30 minutes, causing panic among residents.
The Ministry of Interior said about 600 inmates escaped from the correctional facility.
Buhari, who is presently touring the scene of the attack, is scheduled to travel to Dakar, Senegal, later today.
