The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Kano Central District Church Council (DCC) has issued a strong disclaimer, expressing deep sorrow and disapproval over a protest held on 12/05/2025 by a group of misguided individuals claiming to represent the church.
The protest organised by unknown members and others who are considered to be faceless are aimed to tarnish the reputation of ECWA through character assassination and false narratives, actions the DCC describes as “ungodly” and driven by self-serving motives.
In a statement released by the ECWA Kano Central DCC, which oversees Bari, Baribaji, LCC East, LCC West, Karshi, Karaye, and Kadawa Local Church Councils, the church leadership clarified its decision on April 29, 2025, to bifurcate the Kano District Church Council into two distinct entities: the ECWA Kano Central District Church Council (comprising 7 Local Church Councils) and the ECWA Kano South District Church Council (comprising 9 Local Church Councils).

The disclaimer revealed that a prominent ECWA figure accused of character assassination, has never held the position of Vice Chairman in 2018 as claimed, nor has he initiated any withdrawal of the naysayers. Additionally, the protest demanded that 25% of statutory dues be remitted to ECWA, a demand the DCC refuted, noting that 9 Local Church Councils (LCCs) have consistently paid their dues, while the dissenting group has failed to comply due to their refusal to heed the church’s directive.
The ECWA Kano Central DCC called for unity among its members, emphasizing that the division of the DCC was a strategic move to enhance growth and evangelical efforts, as seen in other districts like Katsina, Jigawa, and Sokoto DCCs, which have flourished post-division.

The church leadership urged members to focus on God’s work, warning against yielding to enemies of the church who seek to cause division. “We pray God will protect and preserve the board of trustees of ECWA, the executive, and all the entire members of ECWA worldwide,” the statement read.
In a stern warning to the sponsors of the protest, the DCC cautioned, “The outcry orchestrated by these misguided individuals stems from a desire to regain control over resources they have long abandoned.
Fear the wrath of God, for such actions oppose His will.” The church also appealed to its members to remain steadfast in their faith, focusing on evangelical efforts and the liberation of souls, rather than being swayed by divisive tactics.

As ECWA Kano Central DCC navigates this challenging period, its leadership remains committed to fostering peace and progress, calling on all stakeholders to support the General Church Council’s decision to split the DCC for the greater good of the church’s mission.
