Lamido Adamawa Urges Bajama community to give Obadiah the needed Support as New District Head

Lamido Adamawa, HRH, Alh. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa has called on the people of Bajama District in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa State to support their new District Head to enable him run the affairs of the traditional council effectively in the overall interest of all and sundry.

Calling on the Bajama people when officiating the handing over from the acting District Head, Alhaji Abubakar Sarkin Bariki to the new District Head, held at Mayo-Belwa LG Secretariat on Saturday, the Lamido Adamawa stressed the need for peace and harmony among people irrespective of religion or tribal differences.

Represented by Galadima Adamawa, Alh. Mustapha Aminu, Lamido Adamawa called on the new District Head,Mr Ibrahim Zubairu Obadiah to carry everybody along in the discharge of his duty, noting that the fate of Bajama District lies in his hands and his council.

Lamido Adamawa, who appreciated the acting District Head Sarkin Bariki for his ability to strengthen the traditional institution in the district, expressed optimism that the new District Head would play his part in taking the district to greater heights.

While thanking Senator Binos Yaroe and Mayo-Belwa LGC boss for their contributions in promoting peaceful coexistence in the community, Lamido Adamawa promised to support Bajama District and Mayo-Belwa LGA as a whole for peaceful collective existence.

In his remarks, Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, called on the residents of Bajama District and people of Mayo-Belwa LGA to place peace and harmony as their topmost priority for the benefit of all and development of the area.

Senator Binos pointed out that development could only be achieved if there is peaceful coexistence, adding that it is imperative for the masses to contribute their quota in nation building by engaging in meaningful businesses.

The Adamawa South Senator charged the new District Head to carry everybody along irrespective of religion or tribal differences, noting that people would only feel the positive impact of togetherness if they all have a sense of belonging.

In his words, “If you observe from me, I make sure I provide democracy dividends that all people will benefit. For instance, my free medical outreach. It does not matter your religion or tribe, all people irrespective of their background have been benefitting from the medical outreach.

“As I am talking, there is an empowerment programme going on at GDSS Mayo-Belwa, and beneficiaries have been drawn from all nooks and crannies of this zone. Among the beneficiaries are Christians and Muslims, and all the tribes in Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone.

“Hence, I’m calling on the new District Head to ensure he runs the affairs of the traditional council alongside all people, irrespective of their religion or tribe. You belong to everybody. We all see you as a leader, because you are indeed our traditional leader. I wish you best of luck”.

Senator Binos Yaroe appreciated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the Lamido Adamawa for granting to the people of Bajama the desires of their hearts, adding that this is what they have been longing to see come to pass for decades.

While assuring the new District Head of his support and corporation, Senator Binos thanked the Sarkin Bariki for his amazing role as acting District Head of Bajama for the pass one year.

He also used the medium to commend the outstanding role being played by the Executive Chairman of Mayo-Belwa LGC in ensuring due process was followed for the emergence of the new District Head of Bamaja.

Also speaking, the Sarkin Bariki of Bajama District, Alh. Abubakar Sarkin Bariki, disclosed that he enjoyed his stay in Bajama District, describing the Bajama people as loving and accommodating.

He stated, “I was district head in Song and Fufore LGAs, but I must confess that I did not enjoy my stay there as I have enjoyed here in Bajama District. I will remain grateful to the ward heads in Bajama District and people of the community for supporting me. I call on them to render such unflinching support to the new District Head”.

Sarkin Bariki revealed that throughout his stay as acting District Head of Bajama, there was never a time that he settled disputes of any kind or faced any security challenges across various communities in Bajama District. He called on the people of Bajama to maintain the tempo of peace and harmony among themselves.

While expressing appreciation to the Lamido Adamawa and the entire Adamawa State Emirate Council for seeing him worthy to act as District Head of Bajama for a period of time, Abubakar urged the new District Head to work in the overall interest of Bajama District and the Adamawa Emirate Council as a whole.

In his speech, the new District Head of Bajama, Mr Ibrahim Zubairu Obadiah, appreciated Lamido Adamawa and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for seeing him trustworthy to head the District of Bajama.

He also thanked Senator Binos Yaroe and Mayo-Belwa LGC Executive Chairman for their outstanding role they played in ensuring due process was followed which enabled his emergence as the new District Head of Bamaja.

Obadiah assured the Adamawa Emirate Council, Adamawa State Government and Mayo-Belwa Local Government Council of his commitment and determination to do his best, where he called on his council and subjects to support him and work hand-in-hand for the progress of Bajama District, Mayo-Belwa LGA and Adamawa State in general.

In his address, the Executive Chairman of Mayo-Belwa LGC, thanked Lamido Adamawa and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for seeing the need for the approval of District Head of Bajama, calling on his people to rally round the new traditional leader for the betterment and benefit of all.

The Council boss expressed optimism that with his vast experience, the new District Head would play a significant role in taking the district to greater heights.

He used the medium to thank Senator Binos Yaroe for his unflinching support and corporation towards the development of not only Mayo-Belwa LGA, but the entire LGAs in Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone.

In an interview with pressmen, the Ward Head of Nassarawo-Jerreng, Mal. Ibrahim Hammanjumba, pointed out that it was a moment of joy and a cause for celebration for the people of Bajama to realise that the desires of their hearts have been granted eventually, describing the event as a dream come true for them.

Also speaking, the Ward Head of Alkali-Manga, Hon. Samuel Ugoro, disclosed that having a district head was the desires of their hearts for decades, where he commended Lamido Adamawa and thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for making their dreams come true.

Highlights of the event was the official handing over to the new District Head as Kenneth Foundation Group of Schools Nassarawo-Jerreng presented an award of good leadership to Alh. Abubakar Sarkin Bariki who acted as District Head of Bajama for over one year.
