The pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu has expressed deep shock over the sudden death of Ibrahim Abdulaziz.
Until his death, the veteran journalist was the correspondent of the Voice of America (VOA) in Adamawa and Taraba States.
Abdulaziz died on Friday near Alkaleri when the commercial vehicle he was travelling in was involved in a ghastly car crash on Friday.
Commiserating with Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), family, friends and associates of the deceased, Ribadu said Adamawa State and Nigeria has lost one of its finest journalists whose major concern is the promotion of good governance viz a viz an egalitarian society.
He noted that Abdulaziz died at a very critical time in the history of Nigeria when the services of disciplined journalists are needed to bail the country out of the woods.
” Abdulaziz is no doubt one of the finest and brilliant journalists in our shores. Over the years, the man has registered himself as a member of the committee of the most trusted and patriotic journalists of our time.
” He is a well cultured journalist with untainted reputation and unblemished career spanning several decades.
” Abdulaziz’s unquenchable thirst for good journalism coupled with a strong work ethics has no doubt made his mark at the local, national and international arena where he earned plaudits and laurels.
” I particularly take solace in the fact that Abdulaziz has given a good account of himself through commitment, hard work and dedication. These qualities truly define Abdulaziz as a journalist and as citizen. May Allah grants him the highest place he reserved for his faithful servants in paradise,” Ribadu said.
