Barr Boss Mustapha, Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) on Sunday condoled Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Mustapha over the demise of Muhammad Barkindo, outgoing Secretary-General, Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
SGF also condoled the family of Barkindo in Yola town, While Speaking during the condolence, he described his demise as a big loss not only to Nigeria but to the world.
Boss consoled Barkindo’s Mother and extended to her the condolence of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“I decided to come in my capacity as a Son of the soil to condole Lamido and the family over the demise of one of the great sons of our state, Adamawa.
“He would have been very helpful to us, especially that we are dealing with challenges of not being able to meet up our OPEC quota even though oil prices are up.
“We can’t see the benefit being translated to the daily needs of our people because of the heavy load of under-recovery, what we call subsidy.
“We were thinking that the world is going to release him to us so that he can spend more time in helping Nigeria navigate this difficult current crunch that we were having in terms of resources being available for the government to be able to expend and also continue laying infrastructural development,” Mustapha said.
According to him, late Barkindo had already spoken about the oil and gas in the future in Abuja recently.
He said Barkindo died at the time Nigeria need his attention after his tenure as the secretary-general of OPEC.
