The Archbishop of the LCCN and President Lutheran World Federation have expressed sadness over the demise of the Adamawa Veteran journalist Timawus Mathias.
In a statement, the Archbishop said late Mathias will be greatly missed by the church and society. He described Timawus Mathias as a peace builder and a role model to many. Archbishop Musa prayed for the fortitude to bear the loss.
The statement in full below:
We received with sadness the news of the death of elder statesman and veteran journalist Mr. Timawus Mathias occurred on September 9, 2022.
His death is indeed a great loss to all of us who knew and worked with him, yet we must submit to the will of God.
On behalf of the Bishops and the entire members of LCCN, I wish to express my deepest condolences to the family, his loved ones, and the entire Bachama Kingdom and Adamawa State.
We give thanks to God for granting him the grace to contribute to human capacity building and development, using every opportunity to positively impact lives, especially the younger generations, until his last moments. Uncle Tim will be remembered for his role as an ardent advocate for peace and peaceful coexistence; his commitment to promoting unity among the Bachama people and the Church. His great wealth of experience and knowledge will be greatly missed. His sense of humor that always brightens the listener’s hearts will equally be missed.
May God grant the family and his loved ones the grace to bear this irreparable loss, in the hope of the resurrection in Christ Jesus. Amen.
