Arch Bishop, Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, LCCN, Most Reverend Doctor Musa Panti Filibus has charged pastors of the Church to persevere with steadfastness amidst the growing tension, social upheaval, economic woes, and other challenges bedeviling the country.

He stated this Monday at the Pre-convention Conference of the ninety-ninth Annual National Convention of the Church taking place in Demsa Local Government Area.

Arch Bishop Filibus who harped on this year’s theme of the convention “Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering”, admonished the clergies to continually be reflective of the theme and be of good Cheer and encourage their congregations.

He maintained that the theme is chosen at a time when Nigeria is entangled in insecurity and constant destruction of lives and property, religious intolerance, and persecution.

According to him, the problems, particularly the economic crisis have resulted in a high cost of living, food crisis and hunger, increasing poverty, vulnerability, and hopelessness, all occasioned by fuel subsidy removal and other factors.

The Arch Bishop pointed out that the situation is compounded by the inability of the government to take concrete steps towards providing lasting solutions to the challenge.

Panti Filibus explained that though the hard time being faced poses a risk for many Christians to waver in their hope encouraged the gathering to be resilient as there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

The cleric who welcomed the pastors in attendance appreciated God for the opportunity to assemble before him and pleaded with them to rise and observe a moment of silence in honor and remembrance of their nineteen colleagues who have died since the last convention of the church hitherto.

Arch Bishop Filibus extolled and appreciated the pastors at the headquarters for organizing the event, the security agents for their support, and many volunteers who have in one way or another supported them.
