To the President,
Federal Republic of Nigeria
The National Assembly,
The Governor, Adamawa State
LETTER OF REDRESS TO THE LOPSIDED APPOINTMENT AND EMPLOYMENT BY TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS WITHIN ADAMAWA STATE.
In recalling the alleged unfair treatment of the State in all the tertiary institutions in recruitment appointments and promotion.
The Institutional heads which are mainly one-sided and the various Commissions lopsidedly gives appointments to just their children, family members, and relationships whom according to the list are mostly FULANIS as lecturers, Assistant lectures, Graduate assistance, Nonacademic staffs in which most of them were not qualified (Third class degree holders), So, during our plenary meeting, we raised this critical issue that needs to be checked for justice and fairness may prevail to motivate peaceful coexistence.
As the group’s National President, I appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari, the state Governor Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the National Assembly to not only set up a panel to unravel circumstances leading to unfair treatment in terms of appointments and Employment impunity and level of ethnical materialization of other tribes in Adamawa State and others, but to also review the Appointment and recruitment process which was done only by the top management of each institution like, Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Federal College of Education, Yola, Adamawa State polytechnic, Yola, College of Education, Hong, College of Agriculture, Ganye, College for Legal Studies, Yola, College of Midwifery Yola, and others.
We said: “We are constrained to point out that the exercise which ordinarily would have been effected in line with the country’s policy of equity and fairness, was regrettably skewed towards one Tribe at the detriment of other tribes.
“For instance, as observed by us, out of the figure of those that collected their appointments in FCE Yola and Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, the Fulani ethnic group was apportioned 80% to 90% slots as other tribes got 0% to 10% slots”
This provocative action is condemnable and unacceptable to us.”
“We call on you sir, to address the principle of federal character in the distribution of public resources and appointive positions, especially in Adamawa State.
“Also, we appeal to the National Assembly to immediately step in to stop these unfair treatments of minority tribes in Adamawa State.
“This it can do by first of all set up a committee to investigate the reason for these actions by the Top senior management and commissions heads to the minority tribes in Adamawa State”. Also, any person or group of persons found guilty of the Ethic cleansing or impunity should be sacked and face the law.
Thank you!!!
Richard N Christopher
