The recent judgment by the Supreme Court giving autonomy to the Local Government areas has been widely adjudged one of the most long-awaited verdicts by Nigerians.
The Judgment according to a Senatorial aspirant in 2019 vied to represent Adamawa Central zone, Alhaji Bello Ibrahim Hong is a decision for the entire people of Nigeria which has a ripple effect on the democratic process of the country.
Bello praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making sure the judgment was passed in the interest of the masses by not interfering.
He said as a grassroots mobilizer and politician who is in constant reach, and contact with people from diverse cultures, races, and political backgrounds the verdict will change the course of politics in Nigeria.
Bello who is also a business tycoon with many business conglomerates said a Local Government Chairman is capable of doing a lot of projects if he is in control of the resources that came direct to the council account by FAAC.
He said the Judgment is going to spur employment generation, a lot of contracts will be awarded to individuals and communities will feel the impact of liberating the local government from the claws of FAAC arrangements by Nigerian Governors to siphon funds meant for the grassroots masses.
He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and notable Nigerians to support the full implementation of the autonomy especially in the area of conducting elections by INEC not State commissions of conducting elections.
The hopeful politician in the Adamawa enjoined Local Government Chairman to be cautious and wise by spending the money of the council wisely, and judiciously according to the provision of the Law.
