Voters in Adamawa State are being encouraged to support the election of women as deputy chairmen in the upcoming local government elections.

Susan Zira, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) state women leader, made this appeal during a press conference organized by the Women in Politics Platform Adamawa State, with support from the Garga Foundation.

The press conference, held in honor of Nigeria’s Democracy Day on June 12, was attended by women leaders from Adamawa’s 21 local government areas, as well as representatives from various political parties and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

Aminu Adamu, the mobilization officer of Garga Foundation, emphasized the goal of the event: to encourage women’s active participation in elections, despite the significant cultural and socio-economic barriers they face.

Politician Hon. Helakzaya Mafuta highlighted that voting for women would promote genuine development by recognizing the significant potential of female leaders.

This call to action aims to ensure greater representation and inclusion of women in Adamawa State’s political scene, fostering a more balanced and equitable governance structure.
