The Like Minds Group, a collective of young advocates for good governance and community development, gathered in Yola South under the leadership of Comrade Wilson Manzo to appeal for urgent intervention to rehabilitate the Christian cemetery in Damare, Yola South Local Government Area.
The group called on prominent citizens, including Dr. Emmanuel N. Musa, the state government, and other well-meaning individuals, to help restore the sanctity of the burial ground, which has been desecrated by vandals and ritualists.

Comrade Wilson, the group’s leader, highlighted the dire state of the cemetery, noting that its collapsed fence and lack of security have allowed “wicked people” to exploit the site for evil purposes.

We cannot thank Senator Binani enough for her efforts, but we urgently need more help.”
The group outlined specific needs: 1,000 blocks to rebuild the fence, new solar-powered lights, a gate, a security guard, and a borehole to provide water for burial activities and the surrounding community. Wilson also appealed for the rehabilitation of the access road to the cemetery, which is in poor condition and causes vehicle breakdowns during funerals.
Ruth Ani Andrew, another leader of the group, condemned the desecration and urged nearby communities, especially women, to remain vigilant. “What they are doing in this cemetery is evil.

Women should carry their pestles and attack anyone performing rituals there,” she said, calling for residents to raise alarms over suspicious activities.
Mr. Bulus Hamma, a resident living near the cemetery, corroborated the group’s concerns. “Evil people come here to perform rituals or dig graves for human parts. We’ve long awaited rehabilitation, and today, God has used these young people to bring attention to this place,” he said.
