As the national chairmanship tussle intensifies, a group supporting Mrs. Nenadi Usman’s leadership, Concerned Citizens, has revisited the incident where Engr. Michael Ayuba Auta, Labour Party’s (LP) Southern Kaduna Senatorial Candidate, was taken to court in 2023.
Recently, Engr. Auta criticized Mrs. Nenadi Usman’s appointment as LP national chairman, calling it unconstitutional. However, the Jonah K. Gandu-led group revealed that Engr. Auta was dragged to court by Zacks Henry, a 45-year-old artisan, for alleged swindling.
Engr. Mike Auta, along with two others, was suspended by the Labour Party’s state executive in 2023 for aligning with the Lamidi Apapa-led faction, deemed illegal and counterfeit
According to media reports dated February 16, 2023, Henry claimed that Auta contracted him to rebrand his campaign cars on November 19, 2022, but refused to pay the sum of N850,000 for the job done. Henry stated that Auta had been evading payment for four months, prompting him to seek legal action.
The court, presided over by Justice Dorcas Daniel, ordered a substituted service on Engr. Auta and adjourned the matter to March 1, 2023, for a definite hearing.

Furthermore, Engr. Mike Auta, along with two others, was suspended by the Labour Party’s state executive in 2023 for aligning with the Lamidi Apapa-led faction, deemed illegal and counterfeit.
The suspended members include:
- Hon. Bashir Idris Aliyu (2023 deputy governorship candidate)
- Alh. Ibrahim Sidi Bamali (Senatorial candidate, zone 1)
- Engr. Michael Ayuba Auta (Senatorial candidate, zone 3)
The Kaduna LP executive dissociated themselves from the Apapa-led faction, stating that all identified card-carrying members who attended the Bauchi meeting stand suspended from the party.
The suspension was handed down at an emergency meeting of the state executive council on May 6, 2023, and will be forwarded to the National Working Committee of the Labour Party for further action.
