Group Reveals Court Case Against Kaduna LP Senatorial Candidate

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

As the national chairmanship tussle continues, a group supporting Mrs. Nenadi Usman’s leadership, Concerned Citizens, has revealed that the Labour Party’s (LP) Southern Kaduna Senatorial Candidate, Engr. Michael Ayuba Auta, was arraigned in court in 2023.

According to the group, Engr. Auta was dragged before Justice L. Daniel of the Upper Customary Court in Television, Sabon-Tasha, Kaduna, by a 45-year-old artisan, Zacks Henry, for alleged swindling. Henry claimed that Engr. Auta contracted him to rebrand his campaign cars in November 2022 but refused to pay the sum of N850,000 for the job done.

Engr. Auta was among three frontline LP members suspended by the party’s state executive in May 2023 for allegedly taking sides with the Lamidi Apapa-led faction, described as illegal and counterfeit

The court ordered a substituted service on Engr. Auta and adjourned the matter to March 1, 2023, for a definite hearing. Earlier, the court had summoned Engr. Auta to appear on February 14, 2023, to answer the charges.

In a separate incident, Engr. Auta was among three frontline LP members suspended by the party’s state executive in May 2023 for allegedly taking sides with the Lamidi Apapa-led faction, described as illegal and counterfeit.

The Kaduna LP executive dissociated themselves from the Apapa-led group and suspended the members, including Engr. Auta, for attending a meeting in Bauchi. The suspension was forwarded to the National Working Committee of the Labour Party for further action.
