Maiduguri, Borno State – A severe flood disaster is threatening to submerge half of Maiduguri as rising waters continue to engulf several areas of the city. Panic and fear have gripped residents, as many are being forced to abandon their homes and seek safety.
Reports from Galtimari, one of the worst-hit neighborhoods, indicate that many people are now stranded on the rooftops of their homes, awaiting rescue as the floodwaters rise dangerously. Authorities are urging residents in high-risk areas to evacuate immediately, but many are still trapped due to the swift and overwhelming surge of water.
Emergency response teams are being mobilized, but with the situation escalating quickly, the capacity to reach everyone in need remains uncertain. The exact number of those affected is still being determined, but with significant portions of the city under threat, the disaster could worsen without swift intervention.
