MAJOR POLICE PROMOTIONS: 11 AIGs, 16 CPs Emerge in Latest Shake-Up

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 27 senior police officers, marking a significant boost to the Nigeria Police Force’s leadership capacity.

The promotions include 11 Commissioners of Police elevated to Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to full Commissioners of Police

The newly promoted officers underwent rigorous written and oral examinations at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters on December 16. PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu, emphasized that both written and oral exams will now be mandatory for promotions at all levels of the Nigeria Police Force.

The promoted officers include Commissioners of Police from various state commands and zonal headquarters, as well as Deputy Commissioners of Police who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and professional skills.

DIG Taiwo Lakanu, who led the promotion interviews, advised the newly promoted officers to remain committed to their duties and continue excelling in their service to the nation. He noted that this promotion marks an important step in strengthening the Nigeria Police Force and its leadership capacity, assuring that the Commission will maintain a focus on timely and merit-based promotions.
