The on-going door-to-door distribution of free Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs), an effort made by Adamawa state government in partnership with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), through the Global fund malaria grant to ensure a malaria-free Adamawa State.

The net distribution campaign targets every Household across the two hundred and twenty six (226) political wards of the state. The government insisted the essence is to make sure every citizen imbibes a habit of constantly sleeping inside the ITNs every night, especially children under five years old and pregnant women as Malaria kills daily more than COVID-19.

The image maker of the Ministry of Health and Human Services of the State, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed further dispelled the rumour making round town that the ITNs can also treat coronavirus infection.

According to him the mosquito net is for protection against the bite of mosquitoes that spread malaria. Malaria is still a major public health disease and should be prevented by sleeping inside the net every night.

He maintains that the ongoing exercise is going on well as planned with no much challenges reported so far.

He further said the ministry under Professor Abdullahi Isah as its commissioner is working hard to see that Adamawa became a free state of Malaria.

He called on all people in the state to cooperate with the Mobilization & Distribution Teams (MDTs) and all officials assigned to visit every home for the successful delivery of the nets to every household in Adamawa State.
