Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has urged fans to keep expectations in check after a rollercoaster start to his tenure at Old Trafford. The Portuguese coach believes that managing expectations is crucial in the highly competitive Premier League, where fortunes can change quickly.
Amorim’s comments come after United’s 2-0 defeat at Arsenal on Wednesday, which exposed the gulf between the Red Devils and the top teams in the league. Despite the loss, United sit 13th in the table, just three points off the top six.

“It’s hard because it’s very competitive this league and changes all the time with just one result,” Amorim said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Nottingham Forest’s visit on Saturday. “Before this Arsenal game, you guys were asking about the top four, and now we return to this position. Nowadays, it’s like that.”
Amorim emphasized the need to remain calm and focused, despite the ups and downs of the season. “We have to manage expectations and at the same time, when you have a bad result, you have to be calm and continue to do the job that we are doing,” he said.

The Manchester United boss also paid tribute to Kath Phipps, the club’s former receptionist, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 85. Phipps had worked at United for over 55 years and was widely respected by players, staff, and fans.
