The state-of-the-art facility, a testament to her campaign promises, is set to transform maternal healthcare and reduce mortality rates across Lere LGA and neighboring regions, including Kano, Bauchi, Plateau, and bordering LGAs like Kauru and Kubau.
The ceremony, anchored by Alh. Also in attendance were past Lere LGA Chairmen Hon. Matthew Bulus Gambo Kaku and Hon. Mohammed Sani Fariya, traditional and religious leaders, security personnel, media, and community members.
Mr. Bitrus Garba, in his opening remarks, lauded Hon. Tanimu and Dr. Jimoh for their pivotal roles in delivering the 12-bed maternity ward, complete with a reception, a labor room accommodating four women simultaneously, and a fully equipped consulting room.
This is for all of us, not just me
“This facility will significantly address maternal mortality in Lere LGA and beyond,” Garba stated, emphasizing its potential to serve as a regional healthcare hub. He highlighted the ward’s modern amenities, designed to ensure safe deliveries and improved maternal and child health outcomes.
Hon. Mannira Suleiman Tanimu, the sole female legislator in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, described the project as a collective achievement. “This is for all of us, not just me,” she said, expressing gratitude to Dr. Jimoh and the KSPHCB for providing essential equipment and materials.
She has not disappointed us
Tanimu underscored that the maternity ward fulfills a key campaign promise, crediting the support of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for making it possible. She urged Lere residents to support Governor Sani’s re-election, citing his commitment to transformative projects like this one. “I thank God for enabling me to gradually redeem my promises to the people of Lere,” she added.
Dr. Yusuf Bello Jimoh, Executive Secretary of the KSPHCB, praised Hon. Tanimu’s vision, noting that the project aligns with Governor Uba Sani’s agenda to reduce maternal mortality and strengthen healthcare services across Kaduna’s 255 primary health facilities.
