MAU: Foundation unveils plans to reach 18 campus across 6 geo-political zones with medical skills

In a groundbreaking move, the Our Shared Future Foundation has launched a Campus Leadership and Enterprise Clinic at the Modibbo Adama University, Yola. This innovative program is designed to equip tertiary institution students with the skills, global best practices, and opportunities in the public sector, civil service, creative enterprises, and the media and nonprofit sectors.

The clinic also provides startup grants to student entrepreneurs and mentorship opportunities, matching them with thriving businesses and entities in Yola and across the country.

According to Barr. Ekpa Stanley Ekpa, the Executive Director, the program aims to raise a new class of leaders in civil service, public sector, and private sector leadership, as well as media and nonprofit sector leaders. Ekpa emphasized that there is no reason why public service delivery should not be efficient as service delivery in the private sector or better. The program is designed to reach 18 campuses across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.

The clinic features a range of speakers, including Dr. Hammajam Ahmed Adamu, Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, who spoke on emerging opportunities for young people. Other speakers include Alh. Sodiq Umar Daware, National Chairman of the North East Commodity Association; Mary Igbazua, Founder/CEO of the North East Humanitarian Innovation Hub; and Zahra Idries, Women Tech Yola.

The program is particularly significant, given that 60% of graduates seek employment opportunities in the civil service. Ekpa noted that the demand for excellence is not only a civil service issue but is demanded in all sectors, particularly with the increasing dissatisfaction with many national challenges. He emphasized the need for future leaders to emerge with a mindset that values excellence, accountability, and transparency, and to detest corruption and narrow sentiments.

The clinic has already begun to make an impact, with participants receiving training on agribusiness opportunities, digital and tech skills, and the importance of volunteering and commitment to humanity in service. As the program continues to roll out across the country, it is expected to play a significant role in shaping the next generation of leaders in Nigeria.
