MAU, Yola Celebrates Successful 29th, 30th Combined Convocation with Gratitude to Dignitaries, Stakeholders

Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has expressed profound appreciation for the overwhelming support and participation that made its recently concluded 29th and 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony a resounding success.

Held on January 30 and 31, 2026, the event marked a major milestone, graduating thousands of students; including 7,094 from the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic sessions and conferring degrees, diplomas, higher qualifications, and honorary awards amid celebrations of academic excellence.

In an official appreciation message signed by Registrar Alh. Mustafa Usman Migawa on behalf of Vice-Chancellor Professor Ibrahim Umar, the Governing Council, Management, Senate, staff, and students extended heartfelt thanks to all distinguished guests, stakeholders, and well-wishers who graced the occasion.

The university singled out special gratitude to the Visitor, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, ably represented by Prof. Kabir Bala. President Tinubu’s representation underscored the federal government’s commitment to tertiary education.

A highlight of the commendations was the personal attendance and unwavering support of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri C.O.N, Executive Governor of Adamawa State.

The university lauded the governor for his presence and particularly for his generous promise to construct a five-kilometer access road to the university, a development expected to greatly improve infrastructure and ease accessibility for the campus community.

The message also acknowledged key state officials, including the Honorable Commissioner for Education, members of the Adamawa State Executive Council, the Honorable Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly, the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, the Head of Service, and other senior functionaries for their solidarity and contributions to educational advancement.

Royal fathers received warm recognition for their blessings and support. The university appreciated His Royal Highness, The Lamido of Adamawa (represented by Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Mustapha, District Head of Girei and Ubandoma of Adamawa), alongside other prominent traditional rulers such as the Emir of Fufore, the Amna of Shelleng, the Hama Bachama (represented by the District Head of Gyawana), the Gangwari Ganye, the Murum Mbula, the Hama Bata of Demsa, the Emir of Maiha, and others who lent their esteemed presence and royal endorsement.

Security agencies, led by Service Commanders and Heads in Adamawa State, were commended for ensuring a peaceful, orderly, and secure environment throughout the activities.

The university expressed thanks to the Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Mr. Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, and NTA staff for live broadcasting the convocation, enhancing its reach nationwide.

Special mention went to the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), represented by Dr. Salihu Bakari Girei, whose presence was described as an honor.

Further appreciations extended to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University, Kashere, and its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umaru A. Pate, who delivered an engaging convocation lecture titled “Building Trust Amidst Conflict.”

The university also recognized members of the National Assembly, chairmen of local government councils, heads of federal and state agencies, vice-chancellors and rectors from other institutions including representatives from the University of Ngaoundere and University of Garoua in Cameroon alumni, development partners, religious leaders, captains of industry, the media, friends of the university, and the general public.

The Vice-Chancellor particularly praised the Convocation Central Working Committee and sub-committees for their tireless dedication, which ensured the seamless execution of the ceremonies.

The combined convocation, which featured a press briefing, lecture, and grand ceremony at the Convocation Square, united academia, government, royalty, and the community in a celebration of intellectual achievement and institutional progress.

MAU Yola reaffirmed its commitment to excellence as it looks forward to continued collaboration and support for future endeavors.
