In a heart-wrenching plea for help, Mrs. Grace Jerry has called on the Nigerian public to assist her family as her husband, Mr. Jerry Lamai, has allegedly been subjected to abuse by officials of the Department of State Services (DSS). Mr. Lamai, a tailor at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp, has been in custody since February 2, 2025, after being accused of selling NYSC uniforms.
According to Mrs. Jerry, the ordeal began when her husband reached out to her on the morning of February 2, expressing concern that he had been reported to the Kaduna NYSC State Coordinator, Hassan Mahmud Kaura, for allegedly selling caps and khaki uniforms.
“He vehemently denied the accusation,” Mrs. Jerry recounted, her voice trembling with emotion. “He told me he only repairs and reshapes uniforms for new corps members. He has been doing this work for nearly 25 years.”

Despite Mr. Lamai’s insistence on his innocence, the situation escalated rapidly. “After his call, he said he would contact the DSS himself to clarify the misunderstanding,” Mrs. Jerry explained. “But since then, I haven’t heard from him. It’s been four agonizing days without any word, and the DSS has refused to allow me or our children to see him or even speak with him.”
Mrs. Jerry has made repeated attempts to reach out to the NYSC State Coordinator, hoping for clarity on the situation. However, her efforts have been met with silence and frustration. “I begged the Coordinator to let me see my husband, but she refused. I feel so helpless,” she lamented, tears streaming down her face.

Desperate for any form of assistance, Mrs. Jerry is appealing to the Nigerian public and human rights organizations to intervene on her family’s behalf. “I am calling on all Nigerians to help me. I cannot bear this pain any longer. My children are suffering, and I feel completely lost without my husband,” she cried.
The emotional toll of the situation is palpable, as Mrs. Jerry contemplates the uncertainty of her husband’s fate. “We are a family, and we need him home. I am hopeless without him,” she said, her voice breaking with emotion.
