Murder of Rev Lawan:Rep Dauda solicits the establishment of a Barracks in Adamawa North

The incessant attacks by Boko Haram insurgents that led to the recent killing of CAN Chairman of Michika Local Government area,Adamawa State,Rev Lawan Andimi has compelled the Member representing Michika/Madagali Federal Constituency, Honourable Zakariya Dauda Nyampa and solicited with the Federal Government to establish a Military Barracks in the area.

Dauda who spoke during the Tuesday plenary at the floor of the House where the issue of insecurity had dominated the business of day suggested the Barracks to be situated in Madagali because of the distance one need to cover from Bama,in Borno state where there is barracks until one reaches Mubi an extreme end border LGA before one get another Barracks.

While Supporting the motion and contributions of many lawmakers on the never-ending activities of Boko Haram insurgents activities in the North East,he called on the Government to provide the area with enough military personnels and armoury.

He worried that Michika is one of the biggest LGA in the country with sixteen political wards which population is over one millions, but only about 30 military officers protecting the life and property of the people.

Dauda lamented that the military officers are poorly supported and funded,having one operational vehicle to Mann a huge LGA like Michika.

While calling for a one minute silence for Lawan who died as a heroe in the hands of Boko Haram,he said the establishment of the barracks in his Constituency is very necessary at this time of high level of insecurity in his Constituency.

Nyampa entreated that Michika and Madagali are both borders LGAs with the republic of Cameroon hence the need to mobilised military men in defense of the people who are mostly returnees IDPs and back to continue their normal life.

Speaker of the House,Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila and other Lawmakers supported Zakariya’s contribution and his called to the national Assembly is considered of uttermost important.

The Speaker further asked the chairman committee on defence to answer why all the money released for Army personnel and equipments there is nothing yet to seen on ground.
