On recent days the leadership of Adamawa Muslims council under the leadership of Mallam Gambo Jika and the State Christians Youths organization under the supervision of Pastor George Stephen Oaya have engaged in a wabbling Words for words, and letter for letter attacks over the Administration of Adamawa State University (ADSU) in Mubi.
The Vice Chancellor (VC) of Adamawa State University, Professor Kalepapwa Farauta received venoms of attacks by the leadership of Adamawa State Muslims council of many favouritisms against Muslims which characterized her past administration.
In the letter they accused Prof Farauta of an open secret of her sentimental act of leadership against the Muslims, among such irregularities that are known to the Council was her lopsidedness over the years in students’ admissions, staff promotions, staff appointments to key academic and administrative positions, staff sponsorship for seminars/ conferences, fellowship awards and many others which were all tilted towards the benefits of Christian staff, at the detriment of Muslims, thereby, marginalizing the Muslims.
In his separate letter reply to the Muslims council, Pastor George said It will be important to draw the attention of the council to the fact that their accusation is unfounded, baseless and a smack of ignorance; the reason is that they left institutions that they ought to call to order regards a glaring religious imbalance in their administrations but stoop low in attacking a woman doing so well in reviving the ailing institutions that’s was smashed down by some passed VCs.
The Christian group named Federal University of Technology, Yola (FUTY) that religious bigots have succeeded in renaming it Modibbo Adama University, not minding the religious and ethnic diversity of the dear state.
On their reply also they said Federal College of Education, Yola (FCE) Yola,College for Legal Studies, Yola and the silence of the Muslims council over these three (3) institutions that has almost turned them into a Muslim Institutions, leaves more to be desired of a religious leader of their caliber, as they can’t remember when a Christian was allowed to head any of them and the Christians Didn’t complain or ever say anything.
Pastor Stephen Said:
“We understand your motive; that’s to sow a seed of discord amongst the peace loving people of Adamawa State, despite the efforts of terrorists to break our unity, which didn’t succeed. We want to say to u, that u are only trying to do the impossible. Certainly we never regarded your letter as the voice of Muslims in the State but a voice of certain persons who enjoyed and benefited when the University was in tatters and wasting. We can bear witness that the Muslims of Adamawa State appreciate this amazon; & a tireless workaholic lady of substance who is making the University once more a citadel of pride for the citizens of the State.”
Gambo Jika of the Muslim council however Said:
“The Council is not unaware of so Consequently, the Council wishes to condemn such unjust policies in the affairs of Adamawa State University during the period you occupied the highest seat at the institution.
“Mr. Vice chancellor Sir, you need not be reminded that the survival of the University lay solely on the monthly monetary statutory deductions from all the twenty-one (21) Local Government Areas that constitute Adamawa State. Unfortunately, it has been observed that some Local Government Areas have over the years been sidelined, especially those Local Government Areas whose populations were largely Muslims.”
Furtherance to their counter attacks,the Christian body in Adamawa also Said:
“We the Christian Youths in the State appreciate the wisdom of His Excellency, Rt. Honourable Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who despite pressures from bigots like u, chose her, having seen her footprint already in turning the once comatose, sinking and about to be buried Institution into a peaceful, purposeful & vibrant University now competing amongst other well known Universities in Nigeria. Once again ‘thank you’ Your Excellency for this wisdom. We pray that God should keep guiding you as you steer the State into the next level of development, the glimpses which everyone in the state is testifying.
“And to you, we see this approach as childish, misdirected and ill motivated. Let’s join hands with the Government to move this State forward please.
Shalom, let’s make peace reign in our State and the Nation at large.”
In the other hand Muslims council finally showed up their grievance by saying that:
“Finally, the Council reiterates that henceforth it shall focus its search light on your administration and the University. The Council shall never fold its arms and watch things take an ugly shape at the institution to the detriment of Muslims and Islam. ”
