Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reiterated that his administration is committed to Education sector and nothing can make him settle for anything less.

Fintiri said this when at the Occasion of the Inauguration of the Governing Council of Adamawa State University, Mubi where he said his government have demonstrated the commitment by investing heavily in improving access, retention and transition in the education sector.

He his administration is driving reforms and tracking performance with vigour with free education policy yielding result with amazing speed.

“We are fixing the dilapidated infrastructure in our schools and building new ones. Works are ongoing at our 21 model basic education schools across the state. We have concluded the plans to flag-off the construction of three mega senior secondary schools across the three senatorial zones.

“We therefore require a functional world-class university to off-take most of the products of these investment. And I give you the task to reinvent such a university. For our people and indeed the future of our dear state, this is the best and surest way to go. For our government, the decision to make education a top priority is a deliberate one. It is the most potent weapon to subdue all the vices and guarantee the future and safety of our society. Education is a tool of empowerment against poverty and the greatest arsenal against insecurity. It is the key that unlocks prosperity and the engine that powers self-esteem.

“On this note, I once again congratulate you and assure you that we are always available to provide the needed support.
With this, as the Visitor to the University, I formally inaugurate the Governing Council of Adamawa State University to the glory of God and advancement of knowledge for humanity.” He said

He charged the inaugurated governing council of the state university to key into the government target of radical transformation of the rating narrative of the Institution, just as they have done with every other development index of Adamawa State.

“The next story I want to hear is that because we have you, the University has broken into the list of the top 10 Universities in the world. Yes, I mean the world. It is doable because, that is my own definition of a world-class University. A definition that spurs us to compete beyond the Nigerian space. I want you to walk into the University with a clear mandate to work with the management to geometrically advance the three success factors in university-rating with the required aggression. These are: academic and research output, non-academic reputation and impact of notable alumni.” He added

He continued to say that the governing council got the opportunity to make a date with history, a chance to join his Administration in the onerous task of reshaping the future of Adamawa State.

“Yours is even more tasking as you sit at the echelon of the hatchery of the makers of such future. You have the mandate to deploy everything at your disposal to make Adamawa State University, a world-class citadel of learning. By everything, I mean, your experience, diligence and network. You just have to get the job done,” he said
