MY OXYGEN! Titi Atiku Abubakar’s Heartfelt Tribute to Husband at WOTCLEF 25th Anniversary

Titi Atiku Abubakar, wife of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, today expressed her heartfelt appreciation for her husband at the 25th anniversary celebration of Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF) in Abuja. She affectionately referred to Atiku as “my oxygen, the love of my life,” and declared that she would choose him again as her husband in another life.

Titi Atiku Abubakar also shared the moving story of how WOTCLEF came to be. She revealed that during her school days, she witnessed human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and child labor, which sparked her desire to make a difference. She prayed to God to grant her a position of influence to combat these social ills.

When Atiku Abubakar became Vice President in 1999, Titi saw an opportunity to turn her vision into reality. She founded WOTCLEF, driven by a divine mandate to eradicate human trafficking and child labor. Under her leadership, WOTCLEF has made significant strides in advocating for women and child rights with over 14,000 victims rescued and supported, and has partnered with organizations like the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO)

Titi Atiku Abubakar’s dedication to this cause is truly inspiring. As the mother of four of Atiku Abubakar’s children, she has balanced her family life with her passion for social justice. Her remarkable work through WOTCLEF has earned her recognition, including the Annual Nigerian Women’s Award (2002) and the D’linga Award (2010).
