My son’s killing won’t stop me from educating other children- Father of slain Kagara school boy

Father of the boy killed by bandits during their invasion of Government Science College Kagara, Niger State, Mr Ayuba Dansabe Bawa, says the death of his son, Benjamin B. Habila, will not deter him from sending his other children to school.

Bawa said this when Niger State Commissioner for Education, Hannatu Jibrin Salihu, paid his family a condolence visit.

“I am very grateful for the visit and the show of love and support by the Commissioner on behalf of the state government. I am assuring you that Benjamin’s death will not deter me from sending my other children to school,” he said.

Earlier, the education commissioner, who was in company with her counterpart in the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Mr Sunday Kolo; Director-General, Religious Affairs, Mal Umar Faruk; representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria Chairman in Niger State, Pastor Raphael Opawoye and top management of the Education Ministry and some Principals to sympathise with the family of the deceased, the management of the College and the people of Kagara over the incident.

She said that the state government as well as the Ministry share in the grief caused by the unfortunate incident, saying, “The loss is indeed painful and colossal to bear.”

She, however, enjoined the family to take solace in the fact that God Almighty alones gives and takes.

The Commissioner noted that the student, Benjamin B. Habila, died as a hero, who the state and the ministry would continue to remember, praying that God Almighty will grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

She assured that government was making all the efforts to ensure that the other abducted students, teachers and others are rescued safely and returned to their parents as soon as possible.

Divisional Police Officer, Kagara, Bala Saidu, the family of the deceased and Community Leaders, who received the state government’s delegation, appreciated the Commissioner, and the team for the visit and expressed gratitude to the State Government for its continued support to the security agencies in the state.
