Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s Urban Renewal Mandate continues to draw widespread acclaim for its transformative infrastructural projects across Adamawa State. The latest milestone in this ambitious agenda is a N50,000,000 donation from Fidelity Bank to the Adamawa Green Initiative (AGI), a committee under the Ministry of Environment tasked with enhancing the aesthetic and environmental appeal of the state capital, Yola.
The donation, presented to Governor Fintiri, has sparked enthusiasm among residents, who see it as a vital step toward realizing the governor’s vision of a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Adamawa.
However, citizens are equally vocal in their call for accountability, urging the AGI Implementation Committee to ensure the funds are used judiciously to beautify key areas, particularly the Aero-Clear Ways 5-7 along Mai Doki Roundabout in Yola North—a critical entry point to the state.

Aliyu Hamma, a Jimeta resident, expressed the sentiments of many in Yola North, the state’s administrative hub. “We are closely watching how this N50,000,000 will be utilized,” Hamma declared.
“This money is for creating a green environment, not for lining individual pockets. Governor Fintiri is performing exceptionally across sectors, and we won’t allow anyone to undermine his efforts to make Adamawa green.”
Hamma emphasized the need for timely and effective execution, noting that a beautified state capital could attract partners, investors, and tourists. “The committee must adhere to the specifications and timeline of the project. A green environment enhances the city’s appeal and supports the governor’s Fresh Air Mandate,” he added.
The Aero-Clear Ways area, a prominent entry point for both aerial and pedestrian visitors, is seen as a priority for transformation. Residents believe that greening this corridor could redefine Adamawa as the “Land of Beauty,” significantly boosting its aesthetic and environmental profile.

Hamma also praised Fidelity Bank’s gesture and called on other banks and corporate organizations to follow suit. “We saw how Governor Fintiri appreciated Fidelity Bank during the cheque presentation. We join him in thanking them and urge others to emulate this commitment to a greener Adamawa,” he said.
As Governor Fintiri’s administration intensifies efforts to combat climate change through sustainable urban greening, the spotlight is on the AGI Implementation Committee.
