Nasarawa Geographic Information Service (NAGIS) says it has collected over N912.3million as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to the state government’s coffers from January to date.
NAGIS Director General, Hon. Sonny Agassi, disclosed this when led other members of the management team of the agency on its 2023 budget performance before the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Lands and Survey, Monday in Lafia.
Agassi appreciated the committee, the State Assembly and Gov Abdullahi Sule for giving special attention to NAGIS to succeed.
He said that NAGIS approved revenue budget for 2023 was N974,500,000.
“As from January to this moment, we collected N912, 274, 117 as revenue to the state government coffers and Godwilling, we will cross the line of N1billion at the end of 2023.
“We are working tirelessly to exceed the state government budget target for our agency and we will achieve it by God’s grace.”
Hon Agassi said that money was collected from Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), Right of Occupancy (R of O), rent and revenue from government properties, among others.
The NAGIS DG assured of his continued determination to generate more revenue as well as take the agency to the next level of development.
In his speech, Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Survey, Hon Emmanuel Ezekiel Manding, said that the exercise was to assess NAGIS 2023 budget performance.
He said, “It is our constitutional duties to oversight your activities. It is not to witchhunt anybody.
“We are here to assess NAGIS 2023 budget performance and to see how we can assist you if you have grey areas.”
He commended NAGIS for generating more revenue to the coffers of the state government.
The committee chairman also commended Gov Abdullahi Sule for his determination in ensuring the development of NAGIS.
Also appearing before the committee was the management of the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, where the Permanent Secretary, Khalid Danjuma Adamu, appreciated the committee for supporting its activities to succeed.
The Permanent Secretary said that Gov Abdullahi Sule’s administration is doing its best in ensuring land development across the state.
The Permanent Secretary said that the ministry will set up taskforce on revenue generation in order to boost the state’s IGR
The Committee Chairman, Hon Emmanuel Ezekiel Manding also appreciated Gov Sule for ensuring land development in the state.
He urged the ministry to continue to be up and doing in taking the ministry to the next level of development.
Hon Manding assured them of the committee’s support to succeed.
