National SWAN Describes Purported Kaduna Chapter Elections As Illegal

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) National Secretariat has reacted to a purported SWAN election in its Kaduna chapter, urging the general public to disregard the illegal exercise.

This was contained on a statement signed by its Secretary General, Jude Opara, made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

“The attention of the National Secretariat of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has been drawn to a purported elections by some persons and the emergence of a new executive for our Kaduna State chapter.

“The National Secretariat wants to inform SWAN members in Kaduna and the general public to disregard any such exercise and exco,” it stated.

SWAN in the statement titled, “Purported SWAN Elections/Executive”
reiterated that its leadership in the state remains unchanged.

“That Isaiah Benjamin remains the Chairman and leader of SWAN in Kaduna State, just as Onjewu Dickson is the Secretary of the chapter alongside other State Executive Committee (SWC) members,” it contained.

National SWAN urged its members in Kaduna to be law abiding as appropriate measures have been put in place to check any form of illegality or threat to its Statutes or integrity.
